Dear Parent/Carer

Following the government announcement this week we wanted to write and confirm our guidance and expectations for the coming weeks.

Testing

From Monday 21 February, you do not need to undertake twice-weekly asymptomatic testing.

The exception to this rule are our Strategic Resource Provision students and staff who will continue to test twice a week.

Symptoms

If you have symptoms you should take a PCR test, stay at home and follow government guidance regarding isolation (see below).

Self Isolation

From Thursday 24 February, the Government will remove the legal requirement to self-isolate following a positive test.

However, adults and children who test positive are advised to stay at home and isolate for at least 5 full days, and then take daily lateral flow tests until they have received 2 negative test results on consecutive days (or they have isolated for ten days, whichever comes first).

In addition, the Government will:

  • no longer ask close contacts aged under 18 (or fully vaccinated adults) to test daily for 7 days following contact with a positive case
  • end routine contact tracing.

Contacts will no longer be advised to take daily tests and staff and students should attend their education settings as usual.

As ever, please keep us informed of any positive Covid cases and please continue to report any student absence as soon as possible via 01768 210206 or admin@ullswatercc.co.uk

Yours faithfully

Mr S Gilby
