Special Educational Needs & Disabilities

An Ambitious and Caring Community for Every Learner

At Ullswater Community College, our commitment to excellence is a commitment to every student. We believe a truly outstanding school is an inclusive one, and we are proud that our expertise in supporting students with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) is recognised as a real strength of our community.

Our entire approach is founded on our core values. We are ambitious for all our young people, caring in our personalised approach, and passionate about providing an equal opportunity for every child to succeed and flourish.

Ambitious Pathways to Success

Our goal is to ensure that every student with SEND is empowered to achieve outstanding outcomes. Through our inclusive and personalised approach, we enable our young people to gain a wide and impressive range of qualifications, including ASDAN, Entry Level, GCSEs, and A-Levels.

A Centre of Specialist Expertise

Ullswater Community College is proud to be the home of two Resourced Provisions: one for students with Severe Learning Difficulties, and one for students experiencing Emotionally Based Barriers to School Attendance. These provisions are hubs of specialist expertise and outstanding, compassionate teaching.

Our highly experienced Learning Support Team works across the school to provide support for students with a wide range of learning and physical needs. Their skill and dedication are central to our ability to offer an excellent education to the widest range of interests and abilities in the Eden Valley.

A Partnership Approach to Support

We know that a successful journey begins with a smooth start. Our Transition Team works in close partnership with our feeder primary schools and other professionals. This ensures that the transition from primary to secondary school is as successful and supportive as possible for our students with SEND. We believe in working collaboratively with families at every stage.
