Dear Parent/Carer
It is with huge disappointment that we’re writing to confirm that due to the extension of lockdown restrictions, and increase in Covid cases in Eden, that we are having to cancel our Year 6 Transition day that was due to take place on Thursday 1 July 2021.
Public Health Cumbria has explicitly stated that due to the changing situation in Cumbria that they can no longer recommend that it is safe for schools to place children in situations where there is any mixing of bubbles in or between schools at this time. In our case, transition day would mean mixing students from 30 different primary schools and sending them back to their primary bubbles the next day.
We will now be running the event online; from Thursday 1 July 2021 you will be able to access the Year 6 Transition page from our homepage www.ullswatercc.co.uk
We’re working hard to make this as fun and informative as possible; it will include videos from staff and students, maps of the school for students to familiarise themselves with, FAQs…
We will give students access to be able to post their specific questions – and there will be videos introducing them to their form tutor and their head of year, Miss Matthews.
Sadly, the additional tours we were hoping to run Monday 5 July – Friday 9 July also need to be cancelled, but we are looking at some dates as soon as possible in the first half term of the new academic year to be able to hold a Year 7 Settling In Evening that parents will be invited to attend.
The summer term begins on Thursday 2 September 2021 for Year 7 students, and that day will be spent doing a lot of the activities that students would have done on the transition day, before the majority of other students return on Friday 3 September 2021.
