Cashless System

UCC is a cashless school, this means there is no need for students to carry money or cards. We operate a biometric system and parents are able to view detailed account statements online, and see the daily food choices made by their child.

As part of introducing this system any allergies or medical conditions can be pre-programmed and so preventing any student from inadvertently buying items they should not be consuming.

If you have any specific dietary requirements these can be easily accommodated but please ensure that you inform the school.

You can top-up your child’s account through the online payment system www.ipayimpact.co.uk

Catering

Here at UCC we have two large dining halls offering breakfast and lunch services, as well as the new addition of an outdoor “Pasta Pod”.

A wide range of menu options are available in both dining halls, which includes main meal choices and quick grab and go options such as sandwiches, salads and a pasta bar.

UCC is cashless and all payments can be made through student iPayimpact accounts.

Once students have credit on their iPayimpact accounts, and parents/carers have completed a biometric consent form, students pay for food in the dining hall by scanning their thumb print.

I'm being asked for an establishment field?

A couple of people have reported this error; this field should be pre-populated so you’ll need to close the website and start again, this should resolve it.

I haven't given biometrics consent for my child, how do they access their account for lunch?

Students who don’t have biometric consent will receive a PIN, and they will enter that number into a pin pad in the dining hall.

Is it secure?

Yes. All pages viewed on iPayimpact are encrypted using a “Secure Socket Layer” (SSL) session. SSL is an industry standard and is designed to ensure internet pages and sensitive information are not intercepted. When browsing using an SSL enabled site, you will see a  padlock icon visible in your browser.

All payments are made through a payment gateway which adheres to the highest level of compliance under the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI), including stringent fraud screening, SSL encryption and tamperproof data storage. This process is regularly audited by the banks and banking authorities.

Students, parents and staff can rest assured that the fingerprint images cannot be used by any other source for identification purposes. The system uses an image of the finger to create a mathematical algorithm and then discards the finger image; only the numbers remain and these cannot be reinterpreted back into a finger image.

How do I check or edit my account details?

  1. After logging onto your account, choose “My Profile” from the menu options at the top of the screen
  2. You can update your details in there
  3. Click “Save your details” once you have finished

Can I pay the school in cash/cheque?

It is the intention that Ullswater Community College becomes as cashless as possible. This provides extra security for both students and staff. It is therefore the school’s preference that all payments should be made via iPayimpact. Cheques will only be accepted if families are unable to access the iPayimpact website.

My child has left UCC how do I obtain a refund?

Contact our finance office on 01768 210206 or finance@ullswatercc.co.uk and they will be able to arrange a refund, or transfer the balance onto a sibling account.

What are Biometrics?

Biometrics authentication is the automatic recognition of a living being using suitable body characteristics. By measuring an individual’s physical features in an authentication inquiry and comparing this data with stored biometric reference data, the identity of a specific user is determined.  There are many different biometric features that can be used for authentication purposes; these include finger image, signature, iris, retina, DNA or any other unique characteristic. Once a characteristic has been chosen the next stage in the Biometric process is authentication.  A biometric feature is saved on to a database. Once the data has been stored, a new scanning of the biometric feature is taken. If the comparison is positive, access to the appropriate application is granted.

Biometric technology is now being used at many locations around the country. Banks, supermarkets and now schools and colleges are adopting this increasingly popular technology. Biometrics are not new; their roots have been traced back to ancient Egyptian times. The use of finger images as a security device over the last few years has become very widespread with many popular brands of phone making use of it.

Whilst the use of Biometrics has been steadily growing over the last ten years, the past couple of years have seen an explosion in development, interest and vendor involvement.

Is there an app I can use?
