In a moment of immense pride for the entire school, the UCC Wellbeing Champions have been named the winners of the Community Group Award 2026 by Penrith Town Council. The annual award recognizes groups who make a profound, tangible difference to life in the local community.
Supported by occupational therapist Louisa Waite, the Wellbeing Champions dedicate their own time each week to run mental health drop-in sessions and organize volunteering initiatives. The group was highly praised by Penrith Mayor Cllr Val Bowen for their deep compassion and citizenship. Student representatives Lily, Jamie, and Zahraa proudly collected the trophy on behalf of the team.
Our key aim is to develop an aspirational culture and to encourage all of our students to challenge themselves, naturally in the academic curriculum but also in every other sphere of a truly extensive enrichment programme
