UCC aims to ensure that:

Our ethos is that the effective safeguarding of children can only be achieved by putting children at the centre of a system where we listen and hear what they say. Every individual within Ullswater Community College will play their part, including working with professionals from other agencies, to meet the needs of our most vulnerable children and keep them safe.

Ullswater Community College led by senior members of staff/governors aims to provide a safe environment and vigilant culture where children and young people can learn and be safeguarded. If there are safeguarding concerns we will respond with appropriate action in a timely manner for those children who may need help or be suffering, or likely to suffer, significant harm. 

At Ullswater Community College the health, safety and well-being of all our children is of paramount importance to all the adults who work or volunteer here. All of our children have the right to protection, regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity or disability. They have a right to be safe in our school; this is enhanced by the adoption of the Whole School Behaviour Policy which includes our procedures for preventing and dealing with cases of bullying and a robust Code of Conduct for staff and other adults who work in school. 

We are also committed to establishing a safe physical environment in which children can learn and develop both personally and academically and achieve success in the following as stated in the Children Act 2004:
