“In 2022 50.3% of all exams sat were graded as A* / A grade or equivalent, against the national average of 36.4%. Our average academic grade was B and our average vocational grade was Distinction+. These results put us in the top 20% of sixth forms nationally.
10 students achieved straight A* or equivalent grades, 22 students achieved straight A grades or equivalents and 17 students achieved 2 A* or A grades or equivalents. 77 students, 73% of the year group, experienced achieving an A grade or equivalent or higher this year.
These outstanding results allowed our students to study at the best universities across the country. Of the 76 university applications this year, 17 students decided to defer their places, one student went through clearing, 2 secured their insurance places and 56 secured their first choice course and institution. Of these 56 universities, 21 (38%) belong to the Russell Group. Courses being studied include Linguistics, Operating department practice, Aerospace engineering, paramedic science, Contemporary and popular music, general engineering, Law, Biology, Sport and exercise science, Sport rehabilitation, Fine art and Art history, Journalism, Chemistry, Business management, Combined honours, Occupational therapy, Film and creative writing, Media studies, Primary education, Physical education, History, Veterinary bioscience, Adult nursing, Modern languages, English, Sociology, mathematics, Wildlife conservation, Animal behaviour, Philosophy, Professional policing, Economics and finance, Criminology and sociology, Psychology.

Destinations (2022 Cohort)
The majority of upper sixth form students chose to go on to university, many of them securing places at Russell group universities. A small number of our students prefer to take alternative pathways to linear university progression, including gap years, paid employment, apprenticeships and internships. We are ambitious for all our students and celebrate our historically strong “destinations” performance in the sixth form, supporting them whatever their career ambitions.
Using the Unifrog platform from Year 11 through the sixth form induction process and throughout their sixth form experience, careers education, information and guidance, CEIAG, is a thread that runs through everything we do at UCC.
