Awarding Teacher Assessed Grades – Summer 2021

By 31 March 2021No Comments

Dear Parents/Carers/Students

Following the email we sent on Friday 19 March 2021, full guidance has now been released by JCQ for the awarding of Teacher Assessed Grades (TAGs) which are replacing the cancelled examinations this Summer 2021.

We have linked the JCQ Guidance for Students, Parents and Guardians: GCSEs and AS/A Levels: Summer 2021 here. Please do take this opportunity to read it as it explains the process the school will be using to determine the Teacher Assessed Grades (TAGs).

Also linked here is a simplified outline of how the assessment and grading process will work for our students at Ullswater Community College.

We understand that students will be anxious about the grades they are currently working at. Due to the requirements within the guidance for schools for confidentiality around TAGs, we are unable to release any further student attainment information. Our focus will be on ensuring that students know what they need to do to continue to improve through feedback in lessons and on their work.

As yet, we are still awaiting full guidance regarding the vocational Level 2 and 3 qualifications. This is because of their modular approach and vocational components which have been assessed and examined externally throughout the two-year course. Again, our vocational course leaders will be working through the same TAG process already outlined.

I realise that this may not be the message you were hoping to hear and I want to once more thank you for all your understanding and support. Should you have any queries or concerns please do not hesitate to contact the Examinations Officer on exams@ullswatercc.co.uk who will be pleased to advise you.

Wishing you and your families a peaceful Easter Holiday.

Yours faithfully

Mr R Moss, Assistant Headteacher

Mr R Jackson, Head of Sixth Form

Mr M Castle, Head of Year 11
