End of Term Update – December 2021

By 6 December 2021No Comments

Dear Parent/Carer

We have nearly reached the end of yet another busy term, and hopefully everyone is looking forward to Christmas!

We just wanted to confirm a couple of details for the remainder of the year and as ever, if you have any queries please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Last day of term

Students finish on Thursday 16 December 2021 and the final bell will ring at 12.40 with school buses leaving site at 1pm.

There will be an extended break time prior to period 3 to allow students to have an early lunch if they wish.

This day is also Christmas Jumper Day where staff and students who wish to participate will be asked to donate £1.00 towards the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Winter Weather

If the whole school needs to close due to bad weather i.e. the site is unsafe, or there aren’t enough staff and students that can access school in order to open – then that decision will be made as early as possible.  We hope it will be at approximately 7-7.20am and all parents will receive a text message directly from school. It will also be broadcast on our website, the county council site and on our social media.

Please note that sometimes buses struggle to access the surrounding villages and Penrith itself, we are not always kept informed of these last minute changes and if you have any concerns about your child’s school bus, it is advisable to contact the bus provider directly (as stated on the student’s travel pass). For more information see our website; https://ullswatercc.co.uk/sixth-form/parents/school-transport/ even though the school is open; due to that ever-changing picture we are not always informed.

We will always do our best to keep you informed of everything we know as early as possible.  This will be via a text message to those families affected.

We will be sharing our latest issue of the school newsletter on the last day of term and I hope that everyone has a wonderful Christmas break and a peaceful New Year!

Stay safe, look after each other and I look forward to seeing everyone again in 2022.

Yours faithfully

Mr S Gilby
