Year 11 Mock Exams

November 2020

This year’s mock exams for Year 11 will take place between 23 November 2020 and 27 November 2020. Year 11 mock exams play an integral part in preparing students for their GCSE summer exams and Post 16 Education.

Why are mock exams important?

It is important that students prepare fully for these exams, so they can perform to their full potential. Students need to be encouraged to revise regularly at home and attend any revision sessions that have been organised by subject teachers. Mock exam results can have a big impact on deciding the final pathway in preparing individual students for their summer exams including final tiers of entry in some subjects.

This webpage will provide students and parents/carers with a wide range of information to support revision for mock exams.

Real Experience

If it is safe to do so, some key mock exams will take place in the normal GCSE exam venues under external exam conditions. In this case, there will be invigilators supervising the exams and all normal exam procedures will be followed. Due to current restrictions, it may be that the majority of mock examinations take place in the classroom.  Students will be expected to supply their own equipment for each exam. This includes black pens, pencils, a ruler and a calculator as a minimum.

Results Day

There will be a ‘Mock Results Day’ in December, prior the the Christmas holiday, where students will receive their results in a similar way to their GCSE results next August. In addition, mock exam results will be reported to parents and will be discussed at the Year 11 parents evening.

Revision Resources

Revision resources for each subject will be provided by teachers via Google Classroom, which students can log in to here.

To help you understand what each of your mock exams will cover, teachers have created “Revision Reels”. These talk you through each exam, how they are structured and the topics covered.

Further down the page you will find advice on the best ways to revise and additional resources to support you.
