What is the Salvation Army?
The Salvation Army is a charitable organisation that was founded over 150 years ago, it helps and supports the elderly, homeless and people who might be living in poverty or who have fallen on hard times.
The Salvation Army collects many donations, for example toys, toiletries, food and gift sets. They also hold events such as coffee mornings which are open to anyone.
The Salvation Army are open all year round but at Christmas time they need as many donations as possible to help people in need and to give support.
What do the Salvation Army do?
The Salvation Army are a charity who help all who are in need. They provide to families who need help with food and basic necessities and also those who are lonely, they put on coffee mornings to help bring people together.
Christmas is a crucial time for the Salvation Army as they have a high demand of people needing food and essentials for families. Many parents will worry about not being able to buy presents for their children to open on Christmas day. The Salvation Army provide gifts to families.
The Salvation Army offer food parcels for families which will see them through the Christmas period.
The Salvation Army are a charity who are non-judgmental towards all, they offer support to anyone who needs it.
How can we help?
As a school we are collecting:
- Babies essentials: wipes, nappies, baby food
- Toiletries: toothbrushes, toothpaste, shower gel, sanitary products, shampoo & conditioner
- Confectionary/selection boxes
- Children’s gifts
- Gifts/gift sets
The Salvation Army have had a lot of food donations, and have asked if we could donate other essentials and gifts this year. We want to get as many boxes as possible, so if everyone could please try and contribute with everyone aiming to bring at least 1 item.
The last day for bringing items into school is Friday 10 December 2021.
