For the vast majority of students, the standard of uniform is excellent and students have taken pride in wearing their uniform and looking smart.
However, there are some students who are not wearing the correct uniform which is leading to challenges from staff and negative conversations which we would prefer to avoid.
Please can I remind you that leggings are not appropriate. There are some girls, mostly in Years 10 and 11 who are choosing to wear leggings rather than school trousers. The uniform guidance is clear on this and whilst slim-fitting trousers with some stretch are acceptable, leggings made of jersey or lycra material – the sort suitable for gym wear or sport – are not appropriate.
Nail varnish or acrylics are not allowed and present a health and safety risk in practical lessons. In addition, jewellery must be limited to one stud in each ear; rings, nose rings and bracelets are not permitted. Minimal make-up is acceptable but must not be extreme; false eyelashes and extensions are not permitted, or extremes of hair colour.
All students need to have a blazer, a school jumper if desired, tie and suitable shoes. Blazers can be removed at the discretion of the class teacher but should be worn at all other times. Hoodies are not permitted either under or over blazers.

If there are any families who need financial help with providing uniform, please contact your child’s Form Tutor or submit a support fund application to admin@ullswatercc.co.uk. We are happy to support parents with the cost of school uniform and have provided uniform items for many students over the course of the year.
If students are missing items or not wearing appropriate clothing, they may be required to loan replacements for the day from the Hub in return for their mobile phone, which will then be returned in exchange for the borrowed item.
If students do not comply with our expectations for uniform, including borrowing items as needed, they may face a consequence such as withdrawal from lessons and time in the ISU and for persistent breaches, possible suspension from school. Students who live within walking distance of the school may also be sent home to change.
