Dear Parent/Carer,
As we approach the end of the academic year, I wanted to inform you about the upcoming End of Year assessments for Year 10 students. These assessments play a crucial role in evaluating your child’s progress so far and preparing them for their future learning.
In order to comprehensively evaluate their learning across various subjects, Year 10 students will undertake End of Year assessments during this half term. Most subjects will follow the format of mock examinations, which will be conducted in the Sports Hall. However, in a few select subjects, classroom-based assessments will be conducted. We believe that this subject-specific approach will provide a comprehensive overview of your child’s learning and allow our teachers to address any gaps in their knowledge effectively.
The mock examination assessments are scheduled to take place in the week commencing Monday 26 June 2023. Your child will be provided with a timetable outlining the dates and times of their assessments. This will give them a valuable opportunity to experience the exam environment, practice time management, and familiarise themselves with the expectations of the final GCSE examinations.
It is important to emphasise that these assessments hold significant value for your child’s learning journey. The information gathered from these assessments will enable our teachers to design tailored support and interventions, ensuring that each student receives the necessary assistance to address any areas of weakness.
Now, with just under 12 months remaining until the formal GCSE examinations, it is crucial for your child to establish good revision habits. Consistent preparation and effective revision strategies will undoubtedly place them in the best possible position to excel in their examinations next summer. Encourage your child to develop a revision timetable, allocate dedicated study sessions, and seek guidance from their teachers whenever required. We strongly believe that with the right preparation and support, your child can achieve their full potential.
