Dear Parent/Carer
We are writing to let you know that planning for the Year 11 prom is underway – exciting times! A preliminary booking has been made at the North Lakes Hotel for Wednesday 26 June 2024.
A lot of discussions have taken place because we currently have 282 Year 11 students at UCC and sadly no local venues are large enough to accommodate that number. We have considered alternative venues, marquees, going further afield, but sadly they all just result in prohibitive costs for families and the event.
Therefore, our current plan is to keep the ticket price similar to previous years at approximately £32.00, and hold the event at the North Lakes Hotel, which can hold 200 people.
As is the case every year, some students will decide not to attend, which will account for much of the shortfall. For everyone else there will be a combination of meeting the necessary criteria to attend (shared below), and then tickets being available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The tickets will be available through the usual www.ipayimpact.co.uk and we will inform you as soon as they are live, this is likely to be after the Easter break.
As always, no one at UCC will be excluded from this event due to financial difficulties, so if you require any assistance then please complete and return the support fund form now, before tickets go on sale.
We would advise against committing money to expensive outfits until your child has guaranteed their spot. This is in order to avoid any disappointment closer to the evening.
Criteria
- Attendance – attendance must be above 95% and/or show an improving trend for the remainder of year 11
- Behaviour – negative ATLs and ISU sessions will be taken into account. No suspensions from school for the remainder of year 11 are permitted
- Intervention – we will expect students to attend all that is on offer as they work towards their GCSEs
- Attitude and uniform – students will need to maintain high standards of attitude and uniform
As is always the case, the school reserves the right to choose which students are able to attend this auspicious, formal event.
We very much look forward to celebrating the year 11s’ time at UCC with them at Prom ’24. In the meantime, I’d like to encourage all year 11 students to work hard, make good choices and to ask if they need anything.
