Dear Parent/Carer,
We are extremely proud to be launching the UCC Combined Cadet Force (Army) this summer term.
Our Combined Cadet Force (CCF) will be one of only 500 cadet groups across the UK offering this opportunity for young people to take part in exciting Army themed training, activities and events. The CCF aims to set young people up for lifelong success, and inspire them to achieve.
Our cadets will build courage, self-discipline, resourcefulness, respect for others, integrity, loyalty and commitment. Students involved will develop effective communication skills, confidence, team-building skills, self-reliance, a sense of pride and service to the community.
Some of the activities the CCF take part in, include: drill, skill at arms, shooting, fieldcraft, first aid and adventurous training.
CCF cadets also have the opportunity to get involved with volunteer and charitable work in the community, gaining nationally recognised qualifications such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s award and BTECs.
As a youth organisation, the CCF strives to give cadets a fun, enjoyable experience in a totally safe environment. There is no commitment or expectation on cadets to join the regular Armed Forces when they have completed their schooling.

What is involved?
We are busy building our activities programme, which will be evolved around the students who express their interest and join the CCF. The majority of activities will take place during normal school hours, although there will be up to 3-4 weekend activities offered each year, as well as a longer activity camp in the summer, which will start from 2026.
Cost of joining the CCF(A)
There is no cost to join the CCF.
The army heavily subsidises the CCF meaning uniform and the majority of activity costs will be free of charge. You will need to commit to purchasing suitable footwear, and we will be working with the Army and suppliers to keep this cost to a minimum.
