Dear Parents/Carers,
We are excited to announce that we will be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 6 March. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to embrace the joy of reading through a variety of fun activities planned throughout the day.
Our celebrations this year include:
Dress as a character from a book (Years 7, 8 and 9 [Key Stage 3] and Sixth Form Students)
- Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 [Key Stage 3] and Sixth Form are invited to attend school dressed as a character from a book on Thursday 06 March.
- They will be entered into a competition to award those who are ‘best dressed’ or ‘most inventive’ with their costumes.
- To encourage a love of reading, we ask that students bring in the book that features their chosen character.
- Please note that costumes do not need to be bought; students can be as creative as they like! They might choose to style their hair or wear headwear similar to a character.
- Students may wish to consider a non-fiction book as inspiration, such as wearing sportswear for an athlete’s biography.
- Students who do not wish to dress up as a character are to attend in usual school uniform, and can still bring in a favourite book to share with classmates.
Free Book (All Students)
All students are invited to collect a free book of their choice from the Library on World Book Day.
‘Book Face’ Competition (All Students)
This year we are running a ‘Book Face’ competition, for students to guess the identities of staff members who will be cleverly disguised using book covers!
Reading Workshop (KS3)
We are delighted to welcome Josh Silver, a guest author who will be holding a reading workshop for invited pupils across KS3.
There is so much to look forward to, and we encourage students to take part in as many activities as possible; we truly hope it will be a fantastic day for our school community!
